Just recently I was meeting a few folks, and one of them was a businessman getting a Facebook post created by a creative agency. For Christmas. He was happy with what the agency had conceptualized, but not entirely happy. And on the whole, he was quizzing them on why the ‘likes’ weren’t increasing, as they kept thinking on their feet and spinning explanations.
All this got me thinking: Why does every business think they have to have a stake in festivals? I mean, if you’re medicine store that people love for your service and round-the-clock availability, how does “we wish you a Merry Christmas” or some other clever gimmick going to help anyone involved?
Save your energies while you’re at it, guys. Don’t do things just because everyone else is doing them. Fear of missing out is just that — a fear.
